The Battle of Gettysburg
The battle of Gettysburg took place on July 1-3, 1863. It is often described as the turning point of the civil war due to the fact that after the Confederate Army lost, they would never invade the North again. Another decisive factor that helped raise Union morale and crush the South's spirits was the fact that Pickett's Charge- A dramatic infantry assault that contained 12,500 men that was aimed right at the heart of the Union, failed. With the South never to invade the Union again and the seemingly vast amount of men dead or wounded, President Lincoln spoke his famous Gettysburg Address.
